Journey of Haptic

Journey of Haptic

Journey of Haptic

At MYCEL, we develop next-generation biomaterials derived from mushroom mycelium.
By engineering the natural three-dimensional network structure formed as mycelium grows,
we created CELMURE, a premium sheet-type material designed to replace leather,
textiles, and certain foam-based applications.

“It celebrates the sense of touch.”

Q. What is the idea behind Journey of Haptic?

The project celebrates the sense of touch. Visitors are invited to glide their hands over mycelium
surfaces and experience the diverse textures and forms of this living material.

Organic inside Geometry

Q. How does geometry play a role in the project?

As mycelium grows, it naturally forms gentle, organic lines. In this project, those organic
characteristics are placed within geometric forms, reflecting MYCEL’s identity of square, circle, and triangle.

Aligned Melody

Q. How is the material expressed in the first composition?

Covered in the pure natural color of mycelium, the table features slightly transformed square
mycelium pieces arranged in a linear order.

Through quilting-inspired and other surface treatments, the composition reveals both the
structural beauty and tactile delicacy of mycelium.

Freedom & Melody

Q. What about the contrasting composition?

On a glossy black surface reminiscent of the universe, round and triangular mycelium pieces are
freely scattered like stars. This rhythmic composition expresses the freedom and playful energy of
mycelium’s form and spirit.
